The Inspiration behind EQuorient: A Founder’s Journey
It was my personal commitment to addressing these very challenges, rooted in my firsthand understanding of diverse workplace dynamics, that became the driving force behind EQuorient™ Leadership. Like many, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing psychologically safe environments where individuals truly thrive, places where confidence soared, curiosity was encouraged, and everyone felt brave enough to contribute their best work.
But I also faced the stark reality of unhealthy, chaotic, and toxic workplaces. In those environments, survival became the norm. Constant tension, unsupportive cultures, and pervasive anxiety ultimately led to my burnout and a profound sense of being undervalued. It was a struggle where past challenges resurfaced, impacting my mental and emotional well-being, often culminating in anxiety, depression, and disengagement, a struggle many professionals share.
Witnessing these stark differences firsthand ignited a singular drive: to demonstrate the critical importance of leadership in fostering positive, safe, and truly productive work environments. While this conviction initially led me to launch Mindful Spaces, built on the mission of supporting leaders in creating these essential spaces where everyone feels valued, supported, and can genuinely thrive, I knew there was a deeper level to unlock for specific leadership challenges. To more effectively help others cultivate these thriving environments and prioritize individual and organizational well-being, I pursued a master-level coaching credential and became an EQ-i 2.0/360 practitioner.
This journey illuminated a clear concept: the leadership compass. Every leader possesses an internal guide that directs how they lead themselves, how they lead others, and how they make decisions. However, many operate on autopilot, especially when stressed, burnt out, or overwhelmed. In these moments, decisions can be rooted in instinctive reactions instead of acting with intentionality.
